1Διά τούτο, έχοντες την διακονίαν ταύτην, καθώς ηλεήθημεν, δεν αποκάμνομεν, 2αλλ' απηρνήθημεν τα κρυπτά της αισχύνης, μη περιπατούντες εν πανουργία μηδέ δολόνοντες τον λόγον του Θεού, αλλά με την φανέρωσιν της αληθείας συνιστώντες εαυτούς προς πάσαν συνείδησιν ανθρώπων ενώπιον του Θεού. 3Εάν δε και ήναι το ευαγγέλιον ημών κεκαλυμμένον, εις τους απολλυμένους είναι κεκαλυμμένον, 4των οποίων απίστων όντων ο Θεός του κόσμου τούτου ετύφλωσε τον νούν, διά να μη επιλάμψη εις αυτούς ο φωτισμός του ευαγγελίου της δόξης του Χριστού, όστις είναι εικών του Θεού. 5Διότι ημείς δεν κηρύττομεν εαυτούς, αλλά τον Χριστόν Ιησούν τον Κύριον, εαυτούς δε δούλους υμών διά τον Ιησούν. 6Διότι ο Θεός ο ειπών να λάμψη φως εκ του σκότους, είναι όστις έλαμψεν εν ταις καρδίαις ημών προς φωτισμόν της γνώσεως της δόξης του Θεού διά του προσώπου του Ιησού Χριστού. 7Έχομεν δε τον θησαυρόν τούτον εις οστράκινα σκεύη, διά να ήναι η υπερβολή της δυνάμεως του Θεού και ουχί εξ ημών, 8κατά πάντα θλιβόμενοι αλλ' ουχί στενοχωρούμενοι, απορούμενοι αλλ' ουχί απελπιζόμενοι, 9διωκόμενοι αλλ' ουχί εγκαταλειπόμενοι, καταβαλλόμενοι αλλ' ουχί απολλύμενοι, 10πάντοτε την νέκρωσιν του Κυρίου Ιησού περιφέροντες εν τω σώματι, διά να φανερωθή εν τω σώματι ημών και η ζωή του Ιησού. 11Διότι ημείς οι ζώντες παραδιδόμεθα πάντοτε εις τον θάνατον διά τον Ιησούν, διά να φανερωθή και η ζωή του Ιησού εν τη θνητή ημών σαρκί. 12Ώστε ο μεν θάνατος ενεργείται εν ημίν, η δε ζωή εν υμίν. 13Έχοντες δε το αυτό πνεύμα της πίστεως κατά το γεγραμμένον, Επίστευσα, διό ελάλησα, και ημείς πιστεύομεν, διό και λαλούμεν, 14εξεύροντες ότι ο αναστήσας τον Κύριον Ιησούν θέλει αναστήσει και ημάς διά του Ιησού και παραστήσει μεθ' υμών. 15Διότι τα πάντα είναι διά σας, ώστε η χάρις, πλεονάσασα διά την ευχαριστίαν των πλειοτέρων, να περισσεύση εις την δόξαν του Θεού. 16Διά τούτο δεν αποκάμνομεν, αλλ' εάν και ο εξωτερικός ημών άνθρωπος φθείρηται, ο εσωτερικός όμως ανανεούται καθ' εκάστην ημέραν. 17Διότι η προσωρινή ελαφρά θλίψις ημών εργάζεται εις ημάς καθ' υπερβολήν εις υπερβολήν αιώνιον βάρος δόξης, 18επειδή ημείς δεν ενατενίζομεν εις τα βλεπόμενα, αλλ' εις τα μη βλεπόμενα· διότι τα βλεπόμενα είναι πρόσκαιρα, τα δε μη βλεπόμενα αιώνια.
1Therefore seeing we have this ministry, even as we obtained mercy, we don’t faint. 2But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by the manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. 3Even if our Good News is veiled, it is veiled in those who perish; 4in whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the Good News of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn on them. 5For we don’t preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake; 6seeing it is God who said, “Light will shine out of darkness,” who has shone in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 7But we have this treasure in clay vessels, that the exceeding greatness of the power may be of God, and not from ourselves. 8We are pressed on every side, yet not crushed; perplexed, yet not to despair; 9pursued, yet not forsaken; struck down, yet not destroyed; 10always carrying in the body the putting to death of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 11For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus may be revealed in our mortal flesh. 12So then death works in us, but life in you. 13But having the same spirit of faith, according to that which is written, “I believed, and therefore I spoke.” We also believe, and therefore also we speak; 14knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus, and will present us with you. 15For all things are for your sakes, that the grace, being multiplied through the many, may cause the thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God. 16Therefore we don’t faint, but though our outward man is decaying, yet our inward man is renewed day by day. 17For our light affliction, which is for the moment, works for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory; 18while we don’t look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
1Daarom dewijl wij deze bediening hebben, naar de barmhartigheid, die ons geschied is, zo vertragen wij niet; 2Maar wij hebben verworpen de bedekselen der schande, niet wandelende in arglistigheid, noch het Woord Gods vervalsende, maar door openbaring der waarheid onszelven aangenaam makende bij alle gewetens der mensen, in de tegenwoordigheid Gods. 3Doch indien ook ons Evangelie bedekt is, zo is het bedekt in degenen, die verloren gaan; 4In dewelke de god dezer eeuw de zinnen verblind heeft, namelijk der ongelovigen, opdat hen niet bestrale de verlichting van het Evangelie der heerlijkheid van Christus, Die het Beeld Gods is. 5Want wij prediken niet onszelven, maar Christus Jezus, den Heere; en onszelven, dat wij uw dienaars zijn om Jezus' wil. 6Want God, Die gezegd heeft, dat het licht uit de duisternis zou schijnen, is Degene, Die in onze harten geschenen heeft, om te geven verlichting der kennis der heerlijkheid Gods in het aangezicht van Jezus Christus. 7Maar wij hebben dezen schat in aarden vaten, opdat de uitnemendheid der kracht zij van God, en niet uit ons; 8Als die in alles verdrukt worden, doch niet benauwd; twijfelmoedig, doch niet mismoedig; 9Vervolgd, doch niet daarin verlaten; nedergeworpen, doch niet verdorven; 10Altijd de doding van den Heere Jezus in het lichaam omdragende, opdat ook het leven van Jezus in ons lichaam zou geopenbaard worden. 11Want wij, die leven, worden altijd in den dood overgegeven om Jezus' wil; opdat ook het leven van Jezus in ons sterfelijk vlees zou geopenbaard worden. 12Zo dan, de dood werkt wel in ons, maar het leven in ulieden. 13Dewijl wij nu denzelfden Geest des geloofs hebben, gelijk er geschreven is: Ik heb geloofd, daarom heb ik gesproken; zo geloven wij ook, daarom spreken wij ook; 14Wetende, dat Hij, Die den Heere Jezus opgewekt heeft, ook ons door Jezus zal opwekken, en met ulieden daar zal stellen. 15Want al deze dingen zijn om uwentwil, opdat de vermenigvuldigde genade, door de dankzegging van velen, overvloedig worde ter heerlijkheid Gods. 16Daarom vertragen wij niet; maar hoewel onze uitwendige mens verdorven wordt, zo wordt nochtans de inwendige vernieuwd van dag tot dag. 17Want onze lichte verdrukking, die zeer haast voorbij gaat, werkt ons een gans zeer uitnemend eeuwig gewicht der heerlijkheid; 18Dewijl wij niet aanmerken de dingen, die men ziet, maar de dingen, die men niet ziet; want de dingen, die men ziet, zijn tijdelijk, maar de dingen, die men niet ziet, zijn eeuwig.
