1Paulus, berufener Apostel Jesu Christi durch Gottes Willen, und Sosthenes, der Bruder, 2der Versammlung Gottes, die in Korinth ist, den Geheiligten in Christo Jesu, den berufenen Heiligen, samt allen, die an jedem Orte den Namen unseres Herrn Jesus Christus anrufen, sowohl ihres als unseres Herrn. 3Gnade euch und Friede von Gott, unserem Vater, und dem Herrn Jesus Christus! 4Ich danke meinem Gott allezeit eurethalben für die Gnade Gottes, die euch gegeben ist in Christo Jesu, 5daß ihr in ihm in allem reich gemacht worden seid, in allem Wort und aller Erkenntnis, 6wie das Zeugnis des Christus unter euch befestigt worden ist, 7so daß ihr in keiner Gnadengabe Mangel habt, indem ihr die Offenbarung unseres Herrn Jesus Christus erwartet, 8welcher euch auch befestigen wird bis ans Ende, daß ihr untadelig seid an dem Tage unseres Herrn Jesus Christus. 9Gott ist treu, durch welchen ihr berufen worden seid in die Gemeinschaft seines Sohnes Jesus Christus, unseres Herrn. 10Ich ermahne euch aber, Brüder, durch den Namen unseres Herrn Jesus Christus, daß ihr alle dasselbe redet und nicht Spaltungen unter euch seien, sondern daß ihr in demselben Sinne und in derselben Meinung völlig zusammengefügt seiet. 11Denn es ist mir von euch kund geworden, meine Brüder, durch die Hausgenossen der Chloe, daß Streitigkeiten unter euch sind. 12Ich sage aber dieses, daß ein jeder von euch sagt: Ich bin des Paulus, ich aber des Apollos, ich aber des Kephas, ich aber Christi. 13Ist der Christus zerteilt? Ist etwa Paulus für euch gekreuzigt, oder seid ihr auf Paulus' Namen getauft worden? 14Ich danke Gott, daß ich niemand von euch getauft habe, außer Krispus und Gajus, 15auf daß nicht jemand sage, daß ich auf meinen Namen getauft habe. 16Ich habe aber auch das Haus des Stephanas getauft; sonst weiß ich nicht, ob ich jemand anders getauft habe. 17Denn Christus hat mich nicht ausgesandt zu taufen, sondern das Evangelium zu verkündigen; nicht in Redeweisheit, auf daß nicht das Kreuz Christi zunichte gemacht werde. 18Denn das Wort vom Kreuz ist denen, die verloren gehen, Torheit; uns aber, die wir errettet werden, ist es Gottes Kraft. 19Denn es steht geschrieben: "Ich will die Weisheit der Weisen vernichten, und den Verstand der Verständigen will ich hinwegtun". 20Wo ist der Weise? Wo der Schriftgelehrte? Wo der Schulstreiter dieses Zeitlaufs? Hat nicht Gott die Weisheit der Welt zur Torheit gemacht? 21Denn weil ja in der Weisheit Gottes die Welt durch die Weisheit Gott nicht erkannte, so gefiel es Gott wohl, durch die Torheit der Predigt die Glaubenden zu erretten; 22weil ja sowohl Juden Zeichen fordern, als auch Griechen Weisheit suchen; 23wir aber predigen Christum als gekreuzigt, den Juden ein Ärgernis, und den Nationen eine Torheit; 24den Berufenen selbst aber, sowohl Juden als Griechen, Christum, Gottes Kraft und Gottes Weisheit; 25denn das Törichte Gottes ist weiser als die Menschen, und das Schwache Gottes ist stärker als die Menschen. 26Denn sehet eure Berufung, Brüder, daß es nicht viele Weise nach dem Fleische, nicht viele Mächtige, nicht viele Edle sind; 27sondern das Törichte der Welt hat Gott auserwählt, auf daß er die Weisen zu Schanden mache; und das Schwache der Welt hat Gott auserwählt, auf daß er das Starke zu Schanden mache; 28und das Unedle der Welt und das Verachtete hat Gott auserwählt, und das, was nicht ist, auf daß er das, was ist, zunichte mache, 29damit sich vor Gott kein Fleisch rühme. 30Aus ihm aber seid ihr in Christo Jesu, der uns geworden ist Weisheit von Gott und Gerechtigkeit und Heiligkeit und Erlösung; 31auf daß, wie geschrieben steht: "Wer sich rühmt, der rühme sich des Herrn".
1Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes, 2to the assembly of God which is at Corinth; those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place, both theirs and ours: 3Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 4I always thank my God concerning you, for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus; 5that in everything you were enriched in him, in all speech and all knowledge; 6even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you: 7so that you come behind in no gift; waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ; 8who will also confirm you until the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9God is faithful, through whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. 10Now I beg you, brothers, through the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfected together in the same mind and in the same judgment. 11For it has been reported to me concerning you, my brothers, by those who are from Chloe’s household, that there are contentions among you. 12Now I mean this, that each one of you says, “I follow Paul,” “I follow Apollos,” “I follow Cephas,” and, “I follow Christ.” 13Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized into the name of Paul? 14I thank God that I baptized none of you, except Crispus and Gaius, 15so that no one should say that I had baptized you into my own name. 16(I also baptized the household of Stephanas; besides them, I don’t know whether I baptized any other.) 17For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the Good News—not in wisdom of words, so that the cross of Christ wouldn’t be made void. 18For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are dying, but to us who are saved it is the power of God. 19For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, I will bring the discernment of the discerning to nothing.” 20Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the lawyer of this world? Hasn’t God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21For seeing that in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom didn’t know God, it was God’s good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save those who believe. 22For Jews ask for signs, Greeks seek after wisdom, 23but we preach Christ crucified; a stumbling block to Jews, and foolishness to Greeks, 24but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 26For you see your calling, brothers, that not many are wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, and not many noble; 27but God chose the foolish things of the world that he might put to shame those who are wise. God chose the weak things of the world, that he might put to shame the things that are strong; 28and God chose the lowly things of the world, and the things that are despised, and the things that are not, that he might bring to nothing the things that are: 29that no flesh should boast before God. 30But of him, you are in Christ Jesus, who was made to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption: 31that, according as it is written, “He who boasts, let him boast in the Lord.”

Is Paulus voor u gekruist? Of zijt gij in Paulus' naam gedoopt? 14Ik dank God, dat ik niemand van ulieden gedoopt heb, dan Krispus en Gajus; 15Opdat niet iemand zegge, dat ik in mijn naam gedoopt heb. 16Doch ik heb ook het huisgezin van Stefanus gedoopt; voorts weet ik niet, of ik iemand anders gedoopt heb. 17Want Christus heeft mij niet gezonden, om te dopen, maar om het Evangelie te verkondigen; niet met wijsheid van woorden, opdat het kruis van Christus niet verijdeld worde. 18Want het woord des kruises is wel dengenen, die verloren gaan, dwaasheid; maar ons, die behouden worden, is het een kracht Gods; 19Want er is geschreven: Ik zal de wijsheid der wijzen doen vergaan, en het verstand der verstandigen zal Ik te niet maken. 20Waar is de wijze? Waar is de schriftgeleerde? Waar is de onderzoeker dezer eeuw? Heeft God de wijsheid dezer wereld niet dwaas gemaakt? 21Want nademaal, in de wijsheid Gods, de wereld God niet heeft gekend door de wijsheid, zo heeft het Gode behaagd, door de dwaasheid der prediking, zalig te maken, die geloven; 22Overmits de Joden een teken begeren, en de Grieken wijsheid zoeken; 23Doch wij prediken Christus, den Gekruisigde, den Joden wel een ergernis, en den Grieken een dwaasheid; 24Maar hun, die geroepen zijn, beiden Joden en Grieken, prediken wij Christus, de kracht Gods, en de wijsheid Gods. 25Want het dwaze Gods is wijzer dan de mensen; en het zwakke Gods is sterker dan de mensen. 26Want gij ziet uw roeping, broeders, dat gij niet vele wijzen zijt naar het vlees, niet vele machtigen, niet vele edelen. 27Maar het dwaze der wereld heeft God uitverkoren, opdat Hij de wijzen beschamen zou; en het zwakke der wereld heeft God uitverkoren, opdat Hij het sterke zou beschamen; 28En het onedele der wereld, en het verachte heeft God uitverkoren, en hetgeen niets is, opdat Hij hetgeen iets is, te niet zou maken; 29Opdat geen vlees zou roemen voor Hem. 30Maar uit Hem zijt gij in Christus Jezus, Die ons geworden is wijsheid van God, en rechtvaardigheid, en heiligmaking, en verlossing; 31Opdat het zij, gelijk geschreven is: Die roemt, roeme in den Heere.
