Van het lam dat God zelf voorziet tot het Lam op de troon.
Lang geleden gaven mensen een lammetje aan God. Jezus is het Lam dat God zelf gaf, voor ons.

God zal voorzien
Abraham said, “God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” So they both went together.
What happens here
Isaak vraagt waar het lam is. Abraham antwoordt met een geloof dat verder kijkt dan hij zelf weet.
How it points ahead
Op het gebergte Moria, waar later de tempel van Jeruzalem staat (2 Kronieken 3:1), zal God echt het Lam voorzien, en dan zijn eigen Zoon niet sparen.
Het bloed aan de deur
The blood shall be to you for a token on the houses where you are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and there shall no plague be on you to destroy you, when I strike the land of Egypt.

In de nacht van de uittocht beschermt het bloed van het Paaslam elk huis waar het aan de deurposten zit.
How it points ahead
Redding komt niet doordat een huis beter is, maar door het bloed van een lam in de plaats. Jezus sterft precies op het Paasfeest.
Als een lam ter slachting
He was oppressed, yet when he was afflicted he didn’t open his mouth. As a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and as a sheep that before its shearers is mute, so he didn’t open his mouth.

Jesaja ziet een dienaar van God die zwijgend lijdt, voor de zonden van anderen.
How it points ahead
Geen dier meer, maar een persoon die als een lam zijn leven geeft. Filippus leest deze tekst en 'verkondigde hem Jezus' (Handelingen 8:35).

Het antwoord op Isaaks vraag: hier is het lam. Niet alleen voor Israël, maar 'die de zonde der wereld wegneemt'.

Petrus schrijft aan christenen verspreid over Klein-Azië wat hun vrijheid gekost heeft.

Wat het Paaslam in beeld liet zien, heeft Christus werkelijk gedaan: 'een onbestraffelijk en onbevlekt Lam'.
